Italian Prime Minister Applauds Bahrain’s Leadership in Interfaith Dialogue

Riyadh: Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has praised Bahrain for its exemplary role in fostering interfaith and intercultural dialogue. During her official visit to Bahrain, which currently chairs the Arab League Summit, Meloni shared her views with Italian media, highlighting the Kingdom's commitment to peaceful coexistence and civilisational dialogue.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Prime Minister Meloni underscored the progress in bilateral relations between Bahrain and Italy, noting the strategic cooperation that benefits both countries and their citizens. She emphasized that Bahrain has become a model for intercultural engagement, as evidenced by its welcoming of His Holiness Pope Francis in 2022. This visit, at the invitation of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, underscored Bahrain's dedication to fostering understanding among different religions and cultures.

The Pope's visit was part of Bahrain's ongoing efforts to promote human connection and dialogue among religions, reinforcing the Kingdom's status as a global center for cultural exchange and peaceful coexistence. Meloni's visit to the region is part of a broader tour aimed at strengthening cooperation between Italy and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), focusing on trade, investment, development, and strategic partnerships.
