Iraq affirmed its support for what came in the statement of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation after its meeting, which was held yesterday, Sunday, to discuss the most important positions envisaged by the group regarding the incident of insulting the Holy Qur’an, which took place recently in Stockholm.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement: "The Iraqi government renews its position on the importance of giving positions condemning these phenomena a wider space, to address the phenomenon of Islamophobia and prevent provocative manifestations, which revive the environment of extremism and open the way for countless reactions."
It explained: "Iraq's position came to establish a new pattern in international dealing with the heinous phenomena that befall the followers of the Islamic religion and their sanctities around the world, as it became necessary to unify the discourse regarding it in order to preserve peaceful human coexistence."
