Manama: General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, received K. Shanmugam, Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs of the Republic of Singapore, and his delegation at the Police Fort, in the presence of senior Ministry officials. The delegation was given an official welcome before both ministers proceeded to the meeting hall.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Minister of Interior expressed hopes that the visit would strengthen security cooperation and coordination between Bahrain and Singapore, emphasizing the close bilateral relations between the two nations. General Shaikh Rashid highlighted the importance of exchanging expertise, particularly in modern technologies and digital solutions, to enhance service efficiency and quality.
The discussions also focused on addressing shared security challenges and adopting appropriate measures, especially given both countries' membership in the International Security Alliance, headquartered in Abu Dhabi. The Interior Minister stressed the need for sustained joint efforts to address security challenges, enhance civil protection, and implement public safety measures.
Both sides explored ways to enhance cooperation in training, expertise exchange, and combating financial and economic crimes. They discussed the use of unmanned aerial systems and Singapore's experience in strategic planning and applying science and technology in security fields, including border management systems.
The talks concluded with an agreement to regulate policing cooperation and establish a joint committee to coordinate technological development in the security system. This committee will focus on supporting technical infrastructure and expanding artificial intelligence applications.
Earlier, upon arrival in Bahrain, the Coordinating Minister for National Security of Singapore was received by Major General Adel bin Khalifa Al Fadhel, Deputy Minister of Interior, at Bahrain International Airport, alongside several Ministry officials.
