Interior Minister Meets NATO Parliamentary Assembly Delegation in Strategic Talks


Manama: General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, met with a delegation from the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, led by Lord Lancaster, member of the United Kingdom’s House of Lords and Chair of the Assembly’s Defence and Security Committee. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Interior, the Chief of Public Security, and the Ministry’s Undersecretary.



According to Bahrain News Agency, the minister noted that the NATO Parliamentary Assembly serves as a vital link between NATO and national parliaments, bringing together legislators from member states. He highlighted the Kingdom of Bahrain’s commitment to values of justice, tolerance, coexistence, and openness, a vision inspired by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and supported by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. The minister emphasized Bahrain’s active role in international cooperation, adherence to global conventions, and participation in promoting peace and stability worldwide.



The minister reiterated the importance of Bahrain’s strategic alliances in maintaining national stability and prosperity. He detailed governmental efforts to protect national achievements across various sectors. The NATO delegation was informed about the Ministry of Interior’s initiatives to maintain security and public safety, as well as efforts to improve police capabilities through training and technology. Discussions included topics on alternative sentencing and advanced rehabilitation programs.



The meeting concluded with discussions on several security issues, regional stability, and the advancement of mutual interests between Bahrain and NATO.
