Manama: General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, received Mohammed Ahmed Al Yamahi, President of the Arab Parliament. The meeting centered around efforts to boost cooperation and coordination, which underscored the shared commitment to enhancing mechanisms for joint Arab action.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the minister expressed his congratulations to Al Yamahi on his appointment as President of the Arab Parliament and extended his wishes for success in his new role. Gen. Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah highlighted the significance of the president's role in bolstering joint Arab action and fostering stronger Arab relations across all sectors.
The minister reiterated Bahrain's political and civilised approach under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He emphasised Bahrain's dedication to enhancing Arab security cooperation, promoting values of peaceful coexistence, tolerance, and openness, while reinforcing the foundations of global peace.
Gen. Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah pointed out that the increasing security challenges and regional developments require stronger Arab unity, intensified efforts, and widened avenues for cooperation and coordination. He stressed the importance of advancing joint Arab security efforts and highlighted Bahrain's contribution to legislative development through collaboration between the executive and legislative authorities.
Furthermore, the minister acknowledged the Arab Parliament's role in proposing initiatives to advance legislative frameworks beneficial to Arab countries, noting successful Arab experiences in this domain.
