Manama: General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, received Ghada Hamid Habib, Secretary General of the Ombudsman Office. The meeting was attended by Shaikh Nasser bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Interior Minister commended the professional performance of the Ombudsman Office and its role in promoting reform, justice, the rule of law, and human rights principles. He emphasized that human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain are deeply rooted in the authenticity of Bahraini society, its traditions, and customs, serving as a central element in all security work.
The Minister explained that developing programmes and initiatives to enhance community security is aligned with the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. His Majesty has been instrumental in establishing human rights and supervisory institutions and enhancing their roles in consolidating the human rights system. The Minister praised the continuous support provided by the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to implement projects aimed at advancing social cohesion.
The Interior Minister also highlighted the importance of developing mechanisms for supervisory authorities, enhancing transparency and accountability, and engaging constructively with oversight bodies to improve performance and service quality. He received a copy of the Ombudsman Office's annual report and directed relevant directorates to respond promptly to the points raised concerning the ministry's work, in line with the community partnership strategy.
The Secretary General expressed her appreciation to the Interior Minister, noting that the cooperation shown by the ministry significantly contributes to the success of the Ombudsman Office and the performance of its assigned tasks.
