Manama: General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Interior Minister, attended the Ministry of Interior Bahrain Tennis Challenger finale.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the finale was also attended by Saleh bin Isa Bin Hindi, Advisor to HM the King for Youth and Sports Affairs; Ayman bin Tawfiq Al Moayyed, Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS); Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, Minister of Youth Affairs; and Lieutenant General Tariq Al Hassan, Chief of Public Security.
He highlighted the care of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for Bahraini sports, which contributed to international achievements.
He commended the initiatives of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the SCYS, in advancing youth and sports.
The tournament, in its fourth edition, was recognised with the Best Asia-Pacific Championship Award by the Association of Tennis Professionals. It featured internationally ranked players and strong competitive performances. The Interior Minister commended the efforts of Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa, General Supervisor of the tournament, the Bahrain Tennis Federation, and all supporting entities.
Hungarian player Marton Fucsovics won the singles title, while Ukrainian Vitaly Sashko and Kazakh Beibit Zhukayev won the doubles title. Lt. General Al Hassan awarded the winners.
