Interior Minister and Saudi Counterpart Lead 4th Security Coordination Meeting in Jeddah

Jeddah: General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, and His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif Al Saud, Minister of Interior of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, presided over the fourth session of the Security Coordination Committee as part of the Saudi-Bahraini Coordination Council, held in Jeddah.

According to Bahrain News Agency, His Royal Highness the Saudi Interior Minister highlighted the need for enhanced security collaboration between Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, following directives from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia.

General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah stated that the meeting signifies ongoing efforts to bolster security collaboration between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. He emphasized the strong ties between the nations under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

He reiterated that the security of both nations is interconnected, with shared objectives focusing on integration and addressing challenges through a long-term approach. He praised the initiatives executed in the previous phase, noting them as pivotal in enhancing security cooperation. Moreover, he acknowledged the working teams for their roles in developing coordinated projects.

General Shaikh Rashid stressed that through continuous efforts, both countries would persist in advancing joint initiatives while supporting the ongoing process of security development and modernization. This aligns with the aspirations of the Saudi-Bahraini Coordination Council, led by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

The meeting covered key security issues of shared interest, focusing on building upon existing achievements to further strengthen cooperation and address regional and international developments. Discussions included efforts to curb the spread of extremist ideology among youth, enhance cybersecurity collaboration, and link main operations rooms in both countries. It also reviewed the completion of the first phase of facilitating citizens' travel procedures through airports and explored mechanisms for implementing new joint initiatives.

Concluding the meeting, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah and His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud signed the official minutes. Both parties praised the progress achieved and reiterated their commitment to furthering security cooperation and coordination between Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.
