Industry Ministry to celebrate World Accreditation Day

The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism will join the international standardization bodies in celebrating the World Accreditation Day which is observed on June 9 every year.

The event, which is celebrated this year under the theme “Supporting the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”, aims to boost social awareness of the importance of accreditation and its remarkable role in achieving the SDGs.

Marking the occasion, Assistant Undersecretary for Local and Foreign Trade at the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, and board member of the Gulf Accreditation Centre, Shaikh Hamad bin Salman Al Khalifa said the idea of celebrating the World Accreditation Day came as a joint initiative between the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) with the aim of promoting The value of accreditation and defining the importance of boosting the national and international economy as an effective means of protecting consumers and manufacturers.

Shaikh Hamad bin Salman Al Khalifa pointed out the great importance accorded by the Bahraini government to accreditation which is considered as one of the vital fields that are developing continuously to cater to rapid growth in the industrial and services fields and achieve Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.
