Manama: Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, former Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), described the Intra-Islamic Dialogue Conference as a global platform for strengthening unity and institutionalising dialogue within the Islamic nation.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Ihsanoglu commended the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for this key initiative, which seeks to counter hate speech and promote greater understanding among Islamic sects.
Ihsanoglu emphasised the significance of the conference's timing, as it takes place amid pressing challenges facing the Islamic world, particularly with regard to the Palestinian issue. He stressed the importance of coordinating efforts among Islamic institutions to address the current situation effectively.
He commended the Kingdom of Bahrain's hosting of the event, describing it as a valuable initiative. He expressed confidence that the final statement would serve as a significant document outlining a strategic framework for the Islamic nation.
