iGA Engages in Strategic Statistical Dialogue at OIC-StatCom Session

Jeddah:Duaa Sultan Mohamed, Deputy Chief Executive for Statistics and Population Registry at the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA), took part in the 15th Session of the Statistical Commission of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC-StatCom) in Saudi Arabia. The event gathered heads and representatives from national statistical offices of OIC Member States, as well as regional and international organizations.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the session addressed several strategic areas, such as the upcoming OIC Programme for 2026-2030, improvements in population and housing statistics, and the enhancement of data sources and statistical systems.

Duaa Sultan Mohamed delivered a statement on behalf of women leaders in national statistical offices, emphasizing the need to bolster women's roles in the statistical field. She advocated for empowering female professionals, promoting knowledge exchange, and adopting measures to improve women's representation in various statistical positions.

Key recommendations from the session included developing a career pathway for monitoring women's representation, integrating female professionals into succession planning, and creating opportunities for leadership experience. Additionally, it was suggested to hold specialized meetings to advance women in statistics, establish a regional network of women statistical experts, and enable female professionals to participate as speakers and chairs in future OIC-StatCom sessions.

Duaa Sultan Mohamed also highlighted Bahrain's initiatives in advancing statistical work through digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and enhanced data exchange among government entities. She reaffirmed Bahrain's commitment to regional and international statistical cooperation, emphasizing the importance of data in supporting sustainable development and policy-making.
