Manama:The Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA) conducted its first knowledge exchange session with the National Digital Development Agency (ANADEN) of the Union of the Comoros through video conferencing. This session marks the activation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in June 2026 under the Global Digital Twinning Initiative for eGovernment Excellence, which aims to enhance cooperation in eGovernment, digital transformation, and capacity building.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Specialists from both sides participated in the session, where iGA shared Bahrain's experience in ICT governance, including the management, review, and approval processes for government IT projects and procurements. The session provided a platform to discuss Bahrain's expertise and successful practices in advancing digital government.
The discussions also focused on established frameworks for governing and managing government IT projects. These frameworks ensure alignment with government priorities, maximize the value of technology investments and resources, and reduce redundancy through better utilization of shared government services.
This session is part of the cooperation areas outlined in the MoU between Bahrain and Comoros, which include technical and advisory expertise exchange, capacity-building initiatives, and the organization of training programs, workshops, and mutual visits. These efforts aim to support Comoros in advancing its digital government ecosystem and improving its performance in the United Nations eGovernment Development Index (EGDI).
The initial session represents a practical step towards implementing the MoU and converting the cooperation areas into programs focused on knowledge and experience exchange and capacity building in eGovernment and digital transformation.
The Global Digital Twinning Initiative for eGovernment Excellence was launched by Bahrain in December 2024, in collaboration with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA). It is one of Bahrain's strategic initiatives aimed at fostering international cooperation and facilitating the exchange of expertise and successful practices in digital government.
