Manama: The ICT Governance Committee (ICTGC) held the second meeting of its third term virtually to review government procurement requests valued at approximately BD 3 million. The meeting was chaired by Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, Chief Executive of the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA).
According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Qaed emphasised the committee's vital role in improving the efficiency of government digital projects and advancing the Kingdom's digital transformation journey.
The committee discussed several key items, including the Consumer Protection Complaints and Enquiries system. The system will use AI to document complaints from multiple channels, and classify, analyse, and process them efficiently, with automated verification of attachments such as contracts and invoices. It will also analyse complaint patterns, generate statistics, provide comprehensive summaries of recurring issues, and offer smart dashboards to accelerate processing, increase transparency, and enhance customer satisfaction.
The committee also reviewed the Ministry of Health electronic system project, which automates the calculation of impairment percentage using American Medical Association standards. The system will provide a transparent evaluation mechanism, enhanced accuracy, and reliable outcomes, and will facilitate data availability for research and future analysis.
The ICTGC members reviewed the Cloud-based VOIP Upgrade project proposed by the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, which aims to enhance communications by updating network and telecommunication equipment and adopting cloud-based unified communication technologies. The new system will provide seamless communication across different locations and channels, greater flexibility for future network expansion and upgrades, and improved centralised management, all at a lower cost and with reduced administrative effort compared to traditional telecommunication systems.
The committee further reviewed a set of projects and procurement requests related to the development, maintenance, and ongoing support of information systems and infrastructure in several government entities, to improve the quality and efficiency of IT services and ensure business continuity.
