ICT Governance Committee Reviews BHD 4 Million in Government Procurement Requests

Manama: The ICT Governance Committee (ICTGC) held the third meeting of its third term remotely to review projects and government procurement requests valued at approximately BHD 4 million.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, Chief Executive of the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA), emphasized the committee's role in streamlining government digital projects and advancing the Kingdom's digital transformation. He highlighted the ongoing development of ICT systems and the enhancement of operational efficiency to achieve national digital transformation goals.

The committee discussed key items on its agenda, including the Ministry of Education's comprehensive e-learning platform, which is aimed at advancing digital transformation in education. This project will provide an interactive and smart learning environment in line with international best practices, utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) to support education management. The platform will feature exam auto-generation using stored questions in data banks and learning materials, as well as AI-driven interactive educational activities based on gamification features. Additionally, it will offer advanced analytics, interactive dashboards, and insights for performance management to support data-driven decision-making. Fully compatible with smartphones and tablets, the platform will support virtual classrooms, integrate with remote meeting platforms, enhance user experience, and ensure educational continuity.

Furthermore, the committee discussed the National Health Regulatory Authority's (NHRA) project for Medical Devices and Supplies Control Automation, which will be implemented under a public-private partnership (PPP) model. The initiative aims to create an integrated digital platform that automates and standardizes regulatory processes for the supply, registration, and licensing of medical devices and equipment. By streamlining procedures, enhancing efficiency, reducing human error, and strengthening control and transparency, the project seeks to improve the regulatory environment.

The ICTGC also reviewed the Ministry of Health's Digital Transformation Strategy for Public Health, which outlines a roadmap for developing health services using advanced technologies and AI. The strategy aims to improve service quality, enhance operational efficiency, and support data-driven decision-making, thereby advancing digital transformation and ensuring sustainable health services.

Additionally, the committee addressed several projects and procurement requests focused on maintaining IT systems and infrastructure across government entities, with the goal of improving IT service quality and operational continuity. The committee also reviewed progress in implementing the decisions approved during previous meetings.
