ICT Governance Committee Reviews BD2 Million in Government Procurement Requests

Manama: Procurement requests by government entities valued at approximately BD2 million were discussed at the first meeting of the ICT Governance Committee's (ICTGC) third term, chaired by Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA) Chief Executive.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting follows the establishment of the committee through a decision by General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, the Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Information and Communication Technology (MCICT). Al Qaed welcomed the attendees, including new members that recently joined the committee, Noora Hassan Ebrahim Al Assam, representing the Ministry of Finance and National Economy (MOFNE), and Dr. Mazen Mohammed Ali, representing the University of Bahrain (UoB). The Committee's Chairman extended thanks and appreciation to previous members Abdulla Ahmed Dhaif, formerly representing MOFNE, and Dr. Hessa Jassim Al Junaid, formerly representing UoB, for their contributions during the committee's previous term.

The Committee reviewed several items, including the Bahrain Food Security Watch project submitted by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, which aims to develop an advanced digital platform enabling the real-time monitoring of food security indicators and providing an early warning system to address potential crises and challenges. It will assist decision-makers in setting strategic plans and implementing preventive and corrective measures, with the aim of improving Bahrain's ranking on the Global Food Security Index (GFSI).

The committee members addressed a number of projects and procurement requests related to the development and ongoing support of information systems at various government entities, which are aimed at enhancing the quality and efficiency of IT services and ensuring business continuity. The committee reviewed the implementation of decisions made during prior meetings and discussed the progress of ongoing work.
