HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister receives the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Singapore

Manama, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today received the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Singapore, the Honourable Sundaresh Menon, at Riffa Palace.

His Royal Highness highlighted the importance of further consolidating the Kingdom of Bahrain’s standing in the sector of commercial courts by adopting initiatives and plans to further the Kingdom’s comprehensive development goals, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad underscored the international commercial courts’ prominent role in fostering an environment that facilitates global investment by implementing regulations and laws that contribute to an integrated system for settling international commercial disputes following best international practices and standards.

HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister highlighted the mutual commitment between the two countries to further Bahrain-Singapore relations and multisectoral collaboration, p
articularly in commercial arbitration and the settlement of international commercial disputes. This includes the recently signed treaty to establish an international commercial court to settle commercial disputes across national borders and the establishment of a specialised appellate body in Singapore to review the appeals of the rulings of the international commercial court.

His Royal Highness emphasised the importance of this treaty in furthering collaboration between the two countries to achieve mutual aspirations.

For his part, the Honourable Sundaresh Menon expressed his gratitude for His Royal Highness’ commitment to furthering bilateral relations.

The Honourable Sundaresh Menon wished the Kingdom further progress and prosperity.

His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and a number of senior officials, also attended the meeting.
