Manama: His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, met with Zakaria Ibrahim Al Khadim, Chairman of the Bahrain Society for Sickle Cell Disease, along with members of its Board of Directors, at Gudaibiya Palace. During the meeting, His Royal Highness emphasized that the well-being of citizens is the Kingdom's top priority.
According to Bahrain News Agency, HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister stressed the necessity of sustainable healthcare development, ensuring that services align with the aspirations of the Bahraini people, in accordance with the visionary leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad applauded the dedication of the national workforce, highlighting their significant contributions to the Kingdom's development, especially in the healthcare sector. He reiterated Bahrain's commitment to enhancing its medical services by improving efficiency, sustainability, and access to advanced treatments.
His Royal Highness highlighted Bahrain's recent medical achievement in successfully treating the world's first sickle cell disease patient outside the United States using Casgevy (exagamglogene autotemcel), a CRISPR-based gene-editing therapy that employs bone marrow transplantation technology. This milestone underscores the Kingdom's commitment to providing cutting-edge medical services to its citizens.
Zakaria Ibrahim Al Khadim expressed his gratitude for the continued support of His Royal Highness in strengthening Bahrain's healthcare sector. The meeting was also attended by His Excellency Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy, and Dr. Jalila bint Al Sayed Jawad Hassan, Minister of Health.
