HRH Crown Prince and Prime Minister Attends ASEAN-GCC-China Summit in Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur: On behalf of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, participated in the inaugural ASEAN-GCC-China Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The Summit was attended by senior officials and leaders of the participating delegations.

According to Bahrain News Agency, HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister delivered a statement emphasizing the importance of this historic Summit. He acknowledged Malaysia's role in hosting the event and coordinating with the GCC, ASEAN Secretariats, and China. The gathering was described as a defining moment, highlighting a collective commitment to dialogue, cooperation, and the pursuit of a peaceful and prosperous world.

HRH the Crown Prince addressed the significance of the collaboration between GCC, ASEAN, and China, which together represent over a quarter of the world's population and around 20% of global GDP. The scale of this collaboration brings extraordinary potential and responsibility. He commended the efforts of China and ASEAN in renewable energy, green infrastructure, and carbon neutrality, which align with the Gulf's priorities, including Bahrain's net-zero emissions goal by 2060.

He emphasized the importance of collaboration in clean energy development, energy efficiency, and sustainable infrastructure. Additionally, he addressed the global digital transformation, stressing the need for responsible stewardship and ethical frameworks, particularly in artificial intelligence development. The Kingdom of Bahrain called for an international treaty on AI's responsible and ethical development.

HRH the Crown Prince also discussed the need for reforming international systems, including global financial institutions, to be more inclusive and equitable. He reiterated Bahrain's call for the establishment of a Palestinian state and emphasized the need for humanitarian assistance and reconstruction in Gaza. The statement also highlighted the importance of securing maritime routes, combating terrorism, preventing the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, and promoting dialogue and peaceful coexistence.

The Summit was described as a platform to build long-term partnerships based on shared experiences and mutual benefits. The Kingdom of Bahrain expressed its readiness to contribute to shaping a future defined by peace, prosperity, and shared purpose.
