Manama: Fatima Ibrahim Al Mannai, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, held a meeting with Wang Liwen, Director General of the China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC), and He Jinsong, Vice President of China CITIC Bank, to discuss the progress of the East Sitra city project, specifically the completion of its second phase.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting concentrated on the ongoing housing initiatives conducted in partnership with Chinese firms. Discussions included updates on the second and third phases of the Sitra Housing City project. The Undersecretary expressed satisfaction with the completion of Phase I, which delivered 1,077 housing units, and Phase II, comprising 531 units, both completed on time and in compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
Al Mannai highlighted the necessity of maintaining the current momentum as they move into Phase three of the project, which involves the construction of 1,269 units. The discussion also covered potential avenues for bolstering collaboration on new housing projects under the Government Land Rights Development Programme.
She pointed out that working with Chinese companies leverages international expertise and incorporates advanced models in infrastructure and housing projects, which is crucial for the ministry's objectives.
