Housing Minister Meets UK’s The King’s Foundation Delegation on Historic Urban Development

Manama: Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, met a delegation from The King's Foundation of the United Kingdom to review the Kingdom of Bahrain's ongoing projects in historic urban development. Alastair Long, Ambassador of the United Kingdom to the Kingdom of Bahrain, was present at the meeting.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the ministry presented current plans for the development of Muharraq City and the historic Manama Souq, which include restoration works, infrastructure upgrades, and urban renewal initiatives. Senior officials from the Urban Planning and Development Authority, the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, and the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority were also in attendance.

The delegation later visited the Muharraq development project to review its stages and approach to preserving the city's architectural and historical character. They also toured the Manama Souq development project to view ongoing works and plans to revitalise commercial and cultural activity.

The visit included a stop at the Khalifa City project, where the ministry and The King's Foundation had previously collaborated during the planning and implementation of the first phase. The delegation was briefed on the project's urban design standards and upcoming housing and service developments.
