Housing Minister Highlights Bahrain’s Commitment to Sustainable Development on World Habitat Day


Manama: Amina bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, emphasized the Kingdom of Bahrain’s commitment to sustainable development and adequate housing. This initiative is strongly supported by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and is continuously followed up by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.



According to Bahrain News Agency, Minister Al Rumaihi discussed Bahrain’s advancements in sustainable housing through various innovative ministry programs. These include housing finance schemes, land development partnerships with the private sector, and ongoing housing city projects.



In celebration of World Habitat Day, Minister Al Rumaihi pointed out significant initiatives such as the development of Muharraq City. This project is guided by His Majesty the King’s directives to maintain the Kingdom’s cultural identity. Another key project is the redevelopment of Manama Souq, aimed at enhancing its tourism and commercial appeal.



The Housing Minister reaffirmed Bahrain’s dedication to Sustainable Development Goal 11 (SDG 11), which focuses on creating inclusive and resilient cities. She highlighted the ongoing national and government cooperation to further urban sustainability and improve the quality of life for residents.
