HM King Ratifies Law (28) of 2026 Amending Consumer Protection Law

Manama: His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has ratified and issued Law (28) of 2026, which brings significant amendments to Bahrain's Consumer Protection Law. This development follows the law's approval by both the Shura Council and the Council of Representatives.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the new amendments aim to strengthen enforcement and oversight mechanisms within the existing framework. The law expands the powers of competent authorities, allowing them to impose administrative penalties for violations more effectively. It also sets new regulations for promotional campaigns, discounts, and clearance sales, thereby enhancing consumer rights and supplier obligations. Additionally, the law addresses important aspects related to the delivery of goods and services and mandates a review of consumer contracts and warranties.

The responsibility for implementing the provisions of this law falls upon the Prime Minister and the ministers, each within their respective capacities. The law is set to come into force the day after its publication in the Official Gazette.
