HM King Ratifies and Issues New Advertising Law in Bahrain

Manama: His Majesty Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has ratified and issued Law (8) of 2026, which amends specific provisions of Decree-Law (14) of 1973 concerning the regulation of advertisements. This follows its approval by both the Shura Council and the Council of Representatives.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the newly ratified law updates various elements of the original Decree-Law (14) of 1973. It introduces updated definitions, mandates, and procedures for advertising within the Kingdom of Bahrain. A significant aspect of the new law is the requirement for all advertisements to receive prior approval from the competent authority. Furthermore, it empowers the ministry with the authority to inspect advertisements and remove those that violate the regulations. The law also permits the temporary or permanent withdrawal of advertising licenses.

The law stipulates penalties for various violations, including unlicensed advertising, providing false information, obstructing inspectors, and damaging licensed advertisements. Offenders may face fines and imprisonment, depending on the severity of the violation.

The Prime Minister and relevant ministers are tasked with implementing the provisions of this law. It is set to take effect the day after its publication in the Official Gazette.
