HM King Ratifies Amendments to Penal Code with Law (25) of 2025

Manama: His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has ratified and issued Law (25) of 2025, which amends certain provisions of the Penal Code originally established by Legislative-Decree (15) of 1976. This follows the approval of the amendments by the Shura Council and the Council of Representatives.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the newly ratified amendments introduce stricter penalties and expanded provisions specifically targeting acts of public indecency, breaches of personal and family privacy, as well as the unlawful use or disclosure of private communications. These changes are designed to align with enhanced legal safeguards for individual rights, reflecting a commitment to uphold privacy and personal freedoms.

The implementation of this law is tasked to the Prime Minister and respective ministers, who are to enforce these provisions within their areas of responsibility. The law is set to become effective the day after its publication in the Official Gazette, marking a significant step in the ongoing development of the nation's legal framework.
