Manama: His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has issued Decree-Law (35) of 2025, which approves the Unified Law on International Land Transport among the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states. This action follows a proposal by the Prime Minister and subsequent approval by the Cabinet.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the decree-law establishes a "competent authority" as the designated government body tasked with overseeing its implementation. It also sets the exchange rate for the application of this decree-law, equating one Bahraini dinar to ten Saudi riyals. The decree-law outlines a formal process for submitting complaints against decisions made under its provisions or related regulations. Complaints must be submitted to the competent authority within 30 days of notification, and the authority is required to respond within the same timeframe. A lack of response within 30 days is considered an implicit rejection. Rejected complaints must include reasoning, and such decisions can be appealed to the competent court within 30 days of notification or from the date of implicit rejection. Existing decisions will remain valid until the executive regulations of the decree-law are issued.
The Prime Minister and relevant ministers are tasked with implementing the provisions of this decree-law, which will take effect the day after its publication in the Official Gazette.
