HM King Issues Decree-Law (30) of 2025 Amending Traffic Regulations

Manama: His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has issued Decree-Law (30) of 2025, which introduces significant amendments to Bahrain's Traffic Law originally issued under Law (23) of 2014. This move follows a proposal by the Prime Minister and subsequent approval by the Cabinet.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the new decree-law mandates stricter penalties for various traffic violations, including exceeding speed limits, failing to slow down in areas such as populated zones, schools, hospitals, places of worship, and pedestrian crossings. Additional violations include running red lights, reckless or unsafe driving, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, improper overtaking, and displaying prohibited signs or advertisements on vehicles.

The decree-law enhances the enforcement powers granted to law enforcement authorities and the Public Prosecution. It also establishes judicial procedures for handling offenses and related accidents while allowing for reconciliation in specific cases. The new regulations outline escalating penalties for repeated violations, with fines, imprisonment, or license suspensions determined by the severity of the violation or if it results in property damage, injury, or death.

The implementation of this decree-law falls under the responsibilities of the Prime Minister and the Ministers, each within their respective capacities. The law will come into effect the day following its publication in the Official Gazette.
