HM King issues Decree 13/2022, establishing Bahrain Council for Health Studies and Specialties

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa today issued Royal Decree (13) of 2022, establishing and forming the Bahrain Council for Health Studies and Specialties.

The Council will be chaired by a member of the Supreme Council for Health (SCH), and a deputy chairperson, to be named by the SCH President.

Members of the Council include the Chief Executive Officer of Governmental Hospitals and the Chief Executive Officer of the Primary Health Care Centers, in addition to representatives of the National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA), the SCH, the Health Ministry, the BDF Hospital, the King Hamad University Hospital, the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland – Bahrain, the Arabian Gulf University, the University of Bahrain, the Mohammed Bin Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa Specialist Cardiac Centre and the private sector.

The Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson and members shall be appointed as per an edict issued by the SCH President, based on the nomination of each entity for a renewable four-year term.

It is not permissible to renew the terms of more than half of the members of the same line-up of the Council.

If the position of the chairperson, the deputy chairperson or one of the members becomes vacant for any reason, the person who replaces them shall be named with the same instrument, and the term of the new member shall be complementary to that of their predecessor.

The Council shall supervise the establishment and evaluation of health training programmes as well as their preparation for international certification. The Council shall also oversee the evaluation of professional certificates across various health disciplines, national health programmes and the establishment of specialised training programmes.

The Prime Minister and ministers, each in their capacity, shall implement the provisions of this decree, which takes effect upon publication in the Official Gazette.
