HM King Hamad’s Royal Address Outlines Bahrain’s National Roadmap

Dr. Ali bin Mohamed Al Rumaihi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Bahrain Institute for Political Development (BIPD), stated that the Royal Address by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa during the inauguration of the fifth session of the sixth legislative term of the Shura Council and the Council of Representatives, provides a comprehensive national roadmap for Bahrain's future.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Al Rumaihi emphasized that the address highlighted crucial national priorities such as safeguarding Bahrain's security and sovereignty, promoting sustainable development, preserving national unity, and enhancing cooperation among constitutional authorities. The King's call for the current legislative session to be one of significant achievement places a vital responsibility on the legislative authority to implement laws and legislation that meet the needs of citizens and further Bahrain's progress.

Dr. Al Rumaihi pointed out the importance of modernizing economic legislation, enhancing the competitiveness of the investment environment, and expanding the knowledge economy. He also stressed the need for collaboration between the legislative and executive branches to support energy sustainability, environmental protection, and food and water security while assessing the impact of legislation on the population's lives.

He praised the King's acknowledgment of the government's efforts, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in maintaining service continuity, addressing the repercussions of Iranian attacks, and balancing stability with development needs. Dr. Al Rumaihi highlighted the efficiency of state institutions and the appreciation for defense and security forces in protecting Bahrain's sovereignty.

The declaration of June 1 as a national occasion and public holiday, named the "Day of Pledge and Loyalty," reflects the King's appreciation of the Bahraini people's resilience and unity. Dr. Al Rumaihi noted that this occasion allows future generations to reflect on values of belonging and shared responsibility.

Additionally, the King's directive to designate the coming year as the "Year of Isa bin Salman" aims to introduce future generations to the legacy of the late His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, recognizing his contributions to building the state and consolidating its sovereignty.

The Royal Address reaffirmed Bahrain's security and stability as closely tied to its relationships within the Gulf Cooperation Council and international partnerships. It also highlighted Bahrain's role in promoting peace and dialogue, notably through leading efforts towards the adoption of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026).

Dr. Al Rumaihi concluded by emphasizing the significance of proactive planning and institutional integration in preparing Bahrain's future Economic Vision, ensuring it aligns with citizens’ aspirations and promotes development and sustainability. He noted that the BIPD is committed to fostering constitutional awareness, political culture, and responsible citizenship, supporting community participation and social cohesion.
