Muharraq city: His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has delegated His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Personal Representative of His Majesty the King, to inaugurate the newly reconstructed Isa Al Kabeer Mosque in Muharraq City.
According to Bahrain News Agency, His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad unveiled the plaque to officially open the mosque, conveying the greetings of His Majesty the King. His Highness expressed the King's pride in the mosque's reconstruction, underscoring its historical significance and connection to Bahrain's early founders. He highlighted that the rebuilding of the mosque demonstrates His Majesty's dedication to maintaining places of worship and their role in promoting moral values, strengthening national unity, and supporting charitable activities in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad noted that the mosque's opening is aligned with the Royal directive naming the current year as the "Year of Isa Al Kabeer," in honor of Bahrain's founder of the modern state and a pivotal figure in its institutional development. The mosque is set to serve as a center of learning, with connections to educational and cultural institutions both within and outside Bahrain. His Highness emphasized the important role that mosques play in the religious, social, and educational spheres. He also praised the support provided by His Majesty the King and the Government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in facilitating the construction of such places of worship.
Shaikh Dr. Rashid bin Mohammed bin Futais Al Hajri, Chairman of the Sunni Endowments Council, acclaimed the ongoing support for mosques and places of worship. He mentioned that the construction of mosques accompanies housing projects across Bahrain to ensure the ease of performing religious rites. The mosque was restored in a traditional Bahraini architectural style, bridging the past and present, and houses the Kingdom's largest Quran memorization center, continuing its historic role in education and community service while promoting moderation and tolerance.
During the event, HH Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad received a briefing from officials on the mosque's design and construction, which includes high architectural standards and modern facilities to ensure comfort and safety for worshippers. He emphasized that the Isa Al Kabeer Mosque represents a unique architectural and religious addition, blending authentic Islamic design with modern amenities to support worship and cultural activities.
The ceremony concluded with attendees expressing gratitude to His Majesty the King for his unwavering support in maintaining places of worship and extending thanks to the ministries and authorities involved in the mosque's construction.
