Manama: His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, visited the General Command of the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) today. Upon arrival, he was welcomed by Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, the Commander-in-Chief of the BDF. His Majesty was joined by His Highness Lieutenant General Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, National Security Advisor and Royal Guard Commander, and His Highness Colonel Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Commander of the Royal Guard Special Force.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the visit included the presence of Lieutenant General Abdullah bin Hassan Al Nuaimi, Minister of Defence Affairs, Lieutenant General Theyab bin Saqr Al Nuaimi, Chief of Staff, and several senior officers. The officials extended their congratulations to His Majesty, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, on the Bahrain National Football Team's victory in the 26th Arabian Gulf Cup.
During the visit, His Majesty was briefed on the future plans of the various branches and units of the BDF. He praised the successful organisation of the first GCC Military Shooting Championship, hosted in Bahrain, and lauded the BDF team for securing first place in the competition, which featured elite marksmen from the armed forces of GCC states.
His Majesty highlighted the strong ties and historical bonds uniting GCC countries, as reflected in such joint military competitions. He commended the BDF's sporting achievements and the dedication of its personnel in defending the Kingdom.
