His Highness Amir int’l shooting contest kicks off in Italy


By Mohammad Al-Otaibi PARIS, Some 240 shooters from across the globe are vying for glory as His Highness the Amir’s international shooting competition, in its 10th edition, kicked off in the central Italian region of Umbria on Tuesday.

Kuwait is being represented by a team of seven shooters who are contesting the skeet and trap competitions, while Kuwaiti ambassador Italy Nasser Al-Qahtani pointed out that the contest this year coincides with the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kuwait and Rome.

He hailed the contest as a significant event given the international exposure it garners, saying the sport of shooting has risen to new highs in Kuwait thanks in part to recent positive results Kuwaiti shooters have achieved.

Echoing the Kuwaiti envoy’s sentiments, International Shooting Sport Federation chief Luciano Rossi acknowledged Kuwait’s success in the sport, saying its support for the sport of shooting is appreciated by the global body.
