HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Inspects Khalifa Sports City Pool

Manama: His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), President of the General Sports Authority (GSA), and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), visited the swimming pool at Khalifa Sports City to inspect the final stages of renovation and assess its readiness.

According to Bahrain News Agency, His Highness Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Vice President of GSA; His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Vice President of BOC; Dr. Abdulrahman Sadiq Askar, CEO of GSA; Fares Mustafa Al Kooheji, Secretary General of BOC; and other officials were present during the visit.

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad toured the facility after the GSA completed maintenance and refurbishment works. The upgrades included expanded spectator seating, enhanced amenities, water filtration, and full air-conditioning. These improvements were implemented to meet modern standards and support swimmers, coaches, administrators, and spectators.

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad emphasised the role of sports facilities in strengthening Bahrain's sports infrastructure. He highlighted the importance of these facilities in supporting talent development, training, and the organisation of major events. He also underscored the necessity of ongoing maintenance and upgrades to meet the requirements of various sports, particularly swimming, which attracts strong participation from citizens, residents, and national athletes.

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad reiterated the GSA's commitment to ensuring high-standard facilities for clubs and national teams. He noted the infrastructure's role in enhancing performance and achieving long-term development goals within the kingdom's sports sector.
