The Egyptian Basketball Super Cup between champions and cup winners, Al-Ahly, and runners-up, Al-Zamalek, will be held at the Khalifa Sports City hall on October 20.

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad affirmed that holding the prestigious Egyptian sports competition in Bahrain reflects Bahrain's distinguished status as a regional and continental host of sports events.

His Highness indicated that the kingdom's hosting of the prestigious events is living proof of the growing sports cooperation and strategic partnership between the two countries, which contributed to developing the sports sector in the kingdom, thanks to the support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HM the King's Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs.

"We have always affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain is the capital of international sport, and a favourable destination for national and continental sports federations, by attracting major regional and international sporting events," His Highness said.

HH Shaikh Khalid praised Egypt's sports prowess, hailing the distinguished level of its national clubs, particularly Al-Ahly and Zamalek.

"We welcome our brothers from Egypt to their second country, the Kingdom of Bahrain. We also extend our congratulations to the basketball fans and those of the Al-Ahly and Zamalek clubs from the Egyptian community that they will be provided with the opportunity to watch their teams closely in the Super Cup match," HH Shaikh Khalid said, calling on the Bahrain Basketball Association to ensure the success of the event.
