Manama: His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), President of the General Sports Authority (GSA), and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), visited several competitions at the 3rd Asian Youth Games, hosted by the Kingdom until October 31 at Exhibition World Bahrain. HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad witnessed the weightlifting competitions, presenting medals to the champions of the men's 56-kilogramme event. His Highness also followed the competitions in handball, Taekwondo, e-sports, and Muay Thai, which featured extensive participation from various Asian nations and a distinguished competitive atmosphere among the young athletes.
According to Bahrain News Agency, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad commended the major achievements of the Games, noting that the Kingdom continues to solidify its position as a capable destination for hosting major continental and international sports events. HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad emphasised that the achievements so far come from the strong support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the close attention of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad also commended the efforts of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the SCYS, and his support for the sports movement, which has contributed to the continued achievement of successes both locally and continentally.
HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad commended the professional work of the committees and volunteers, calling it a reflection of the nation's skilled workforce. He added that it's excellent to see the high-level skills and abilities of the athletes and participating teams, noting that the Games are a crucial stage for finding and developing talented young people who will become future champions in Olympic sports.
HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad highlighted the continuation of efforts to ensure an exceptional experience is delivered for the athletes, delegations, and spectators until the curtain falls on the Games, expressing his confidence that Bahrain will continue to write a new chapter of success in the history of the Asian Games.
