HH Shaikh Isa Bin Ali Reviews National Teams’ Preparations for Asian Games

Manama: His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), reviewed the preparations of Bahrain's men's handball and basketball teams for the 20th Asian Games, set to take place in Aichi and Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4. According to Bahrain News Agency, the visit comes as part of the BOC's efforts to assess the readiness of national teams ahead of the continental sporting event. HH Shaikh Isa bin Ali visited the national handball team's training session, where he was received by Ali Isa Eshaqi, President of the Bahrain Handball Federation. His Highness attended part of the training session and was briefed on the team's preparation programme and level of readiness. During his meeting with the players, HH Shaikh Isa bin Ali conveyed the greetings of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), Chairman of the General Sports Authority (GSA) and President of the BOC, an d His Highness's wishes for their success. HH Shaikh Isa bin Ali emphasised the importance of continuing to work with determination during the coming period and reaching the highest level of readiness before the Games. His Highness commended the handball team's experience and standing at the Asian level, particularly as runners-up in the previous edition. He expressed confidence in the players' ability to represent Bahrain and exert their efforts to compete and achieve the best possible results. HH Shaikh Isa bin Ali then visited the national basketball team's training session, in the presence of Nader Al Awadhi, Vice President of the Bahrain Basketball Federation, and a number of board members. He met with the players and the technical and administrative staff and attended part of the training session to review the team's preparations for the Asian Games. His Highness conveyed HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad's greetings and wishes for success to the team, noting that participation in the Asian Games represents an opportunity to showcase the development of Bahraini basketball and demonstrate the progress achieved by the sport. HH Shaikh Isa bin Ali urged the players to intensify their efforts, make the most of the preparation period, and demonstrate a competitive spirit, determination and perseverance. He noted that representing Bahrain at major Asian sporting events is both a responsibility and an honour, expressing confidence that the national teams will deliver their best performances. His Highness said that the BOC, chaired by HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad, is committed to following up on the preparations of the national teams and providing them with the necessary support to ensure the best possible conditions for athletes to achieve the desired results at the Asian Games.
