Manama: His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), attended the opening ceremony of the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup in Berlin. The event marked the beginning of a significant international sporting tournament, bringing together women's national basketball teams from around the world.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the opening ceremony was also attended by Friedrich Merz, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, alongside senior officials, sports figures, and representatives of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA). The presence of such distinguished guests highlighted the importance of the championship in the global sports calendar.
HH Shaikh Isa bin Ali also witnessed the opening match between Germany and Spain. The tournament, which runs until September 16, features some of the leading women's national teams competing for the prestigious title. His Highness's attendance at the event was in his capacity as a member of the FIBA Foundation Board, underscoring Bahrain's active involvement in international sports.
