Manama: Her Highness Shaikha Hessa bint Khalifa Al Khalifa, a member of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), conducted a meeting with Gerd Mller, the Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO), during the 6th World Entrepreneurs Investment Forum (WEIF 2026).
According to Bahrain News Agency, HH Shaikha Hessa conveyed the greetings of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and President of the SCW. She emphasized the Council's commitment, under Her Royal Highness' leadership, to fostering cooperation and partnerships with international organizations. This initiative aims to contribute to the progress of Bahraini women and enhance their role in sustainable development.
The meeting addressed key programs and initiatives implemented by the Council under the National Plan for the Advancement of Bahraini Women. It highlighted the National Gender Balance Model as the main framework for equal opportunities and gender balance in national development. The establishment of Equal Opportunity Committees in ministries and official institutions was also discussed to ensure justice and fairness in professional roles.
Additionally, the meeting explored cooperation areas between the SCW and the UNIDO Investment and Technology Promotion Office in Bahrain. Mller praised the SCW's efforts under HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim's leadership in empowering Bahraini women across various levels. He noted Bahrain's progress and achievements in promoting equal opportunities and women's economic participation and stressed the importance of learning from Bahrain's experience in supporting women's advancement.
