Manama: Dr. Jaleela bint Al Sayed Jawad Hassan, Minister of Health, chaired a meeting of the National Committee to Combat Smoking and All Types and Products of Tobacco, as part of ongoing national efforts to promote public health and reduce the health and social impacts of tobacco use, in line with the Kingdom of Bahrain's international commitments in this field.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting reviewed the committee's recommendations and assessed progress in implementing them, helping to enhance the effectiveness of national policies and measures for tobacco control and prevention.
The committee discussed the latest developments and national programmes in tobacco control, including awareness, prevention and treatment initiatives, smoking cessation programmes, and measures to protect those most at risk, especially children and young people.
The Health Minister underlined the importance of continued coordination and integration between relevant authorities and the ongoing development of national programmes based on best global practices. She commended the role of the national committee in supporting a healthier society, promoting healthy lifestyles, and improving quality of life for all members of the community.
