Hammam Hamoudi: The 1920 revolution is a heroic epic created by the religious authority with its fatwa

Baghdad: The President of the Supreme Islamic Council of Iraq, Sheikh Humam Hamoudi, saluted the 104th anniversary of the 1920 Revolution.

Hamoudi said in a statement: ‘It is with great pride that we commemorate today the 104th anniversary of the immortal 1920 revolution, the heroic epic created by the religious authority with its fatwas, and the religious scholars of the Hawza, tribal sheikhs and all free people of Iraq responded to it, to expel the British occupation and restore the sovereignty of the homeland and the freedom and dignity of its people.’

He added, “Today, as we remember this great event, we must draw inspiration from its lessons, the first of which is that the religious authority is the first title for national cohesion, and the true valve for preserving the sovereignty and unity of Iraq, and the dignity of its people. And it is the same title under which the greatest victory over ISIS was achieved, and the most dangerous International conspiracy projects failed.”

He stressed: “The people
, with their clans, elites and national forces, are the basis for all change, and their cohesion in defending the homeland and preserving its identity is the secret of all its victories.”

The President of the Supreme Council stressed: ‘The Iraqis are a free and proud people who cannot accept occupation and subordination under any circumstances or titles, and that is their starting point today to achieve sovereignty over their land, water, sky and money.’
