Gulf Air Partners with Starlink for Fleet-Wide High-Speed Wi-Fi Rollout

Manama: Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, has announced its plan to implement Starlink high-speed internet across its entire fleet beginning mid-2026. The initiative will provide complimentary Wi-Fi to passengers throughout their journey, from boarding until arrival, signaling a significant shift in the travel experience.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the agreement was formalized by Martin Gauss, Chief Executive Officer of Gulf Air, and Nick Seitz, Global Head of Starlink Aviation, at the Awal Private Terminal. The signing ceremony was attended by Khalid Hussain Taqi, Chairman of Gulf Air Group, as well as senior government officials and representatives from the aviation sector.

Khalid Hussain Taqi emphasized the commitment to enhancing passenger experience through the introduction of Starlink across the fleet. He highlighted the role of advanced connectivity in redefining passenger expectations and supporting Bahrain’s digital transformation goals, while enabling cabin crew to deliver seamless service.

Martin Gauss noted that the integration of Starlink will provide next-generation in-flight connectivity for all passengers, whether traveling for leisure or business. He stated that customers can engage in activities such as streaming, gaming, working, or staying connected with loved ones, regardless of their cabin or ticket type. This upgrade aims to enhance the overall travel experience and demonstrate Gulf Air’s dedication to offering premium, seamless connectivity.

Starlink, developed by SpaceX, operates via a network of low-Earth orbit satellites, providing high-speed internet with low latency. This system ensures stable, real-time connectivity, catering to passenger needs and supporting airline operational requirements.

The first Gulf Air A320 aircraft equipped with Starlink is expected to be operational by mid-2026, with subsequent deployment across the entire fleet. This initiative underscores Gulf Air’s operational priorities and positions the Kingdom of Bahrain as a leading aviation hub with a focus on leveraging advanced technologies to enhance the passenger experience and shape the future of air transport.
