Grand Mosque in Makkah Receives Over 4 Million Worshippers, Umrah Performers on Ramadhan 29

Makkah: The Grand Mosque in Makkah witnessed a large influx of worshippers and Umrah performers on the night of Ramadhan 29, coinciding with the completion of the Quran recitation.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque reported that a total of 4,117,669 people visited the mosque, including 3,471,205 worshippers and 646,464 Umrah performers, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

The presidency reported various services provided, including 28,202 beneficiaries of trolleys and 135,670 recipients of on-site guidance. Additionally, 42,000 bottles of Zamzam water were distributed, 702,488 iftar meals were served, and 270 tonnes of waste were removed with the support of 13,260 workers.

The presidency relies on advanced technology, using smart sensors at the entrances of the Grand Mosque to monitor the number of worshippers and Umrah performers. This contributes to improved crowd management and operational efficiency in coordination with relevant authorities.
