Gov’t keen on maintaining partnership with commerce chambers-Shamali

Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply and Minister of Labor, Yousef Shamali, affirmed the ministry’s keenness on sustaining partnership with Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC) and all trade chambers and representatives of the Kingdom’s commercial sectors, which would contribute to overcoming difficulties and supporting trade activities. During his meeting on Saturday evening, with ACC’s Board of Directors, Shamali noted this public-private partnership is a “reality” in implementation of His Majesty King Abdullah II’s directives on the necessity to activate the “true” partnership between the Kingdom’s public and private sectors, which would reflect positively on the national economy. Shamali added that the ministry seeks to increase ACC’s contribution to the national economy, as an “important” partner in preparing the Economic Modernization Vision (EMV), which would mainly take part in implementing its outcomes. The minister also stressed the government’s readiness to address challenges and problems facing the Kingdom’s commercial and service sector. Shamali valued role of the Kingdom’s commercial and service sector in serving the national economy, which constitutes nearly 70% of the gross domestic product. Meanwhile, ACC head, Khalil Haj Tawfiq, said the chamber’s director board lauds cooperation and partnership with the trade ministry as an umbrella for all commerce chambers, stressing the ministry’s role to follow up and resolve any obstacles with all concerned authorities. The meeting, which was held at ACC’s headquarters, discussed Jordan-Syria trade exchange, Jordan-Turkey future vision and areas of joint cooperation and investment, within a “balanced” relation aimed to secure equality and justice for the two sides, according to a ministry statement.
