Government Hospitals Commemorate World Physiotherapy Day with Event Focused on Cardiovascular Health

Manama: The Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy Department organised an event marking World Physiotherapy Day. Dr. Mariam Athbi Al Jalahma, CEO of the Government Hospitals administration, was present.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Jawad Mulla Abdulaziz, Head of the Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy Department at Government Hospitals, highlighted the importance of physiotherapy across various stages of care, from prevention and early intervention to rehabilitation and restoring functional ability and independence. He noted that achieving the best outcomes for patients depends on the integration of healthcare disciplines and the adoption of evidence-based practices, which contribute to enhancing the quality of care, functional outcomes, and patients' quality of life.

Dr. Abdulaziz emphasized that Government Hospitals continues to develop rehabilitation and physiotherapy services and enhance specialised disciplines in line with the latest developments and practices in the domain. This supports the provision of integrated rehabilitation services that meet patients' needs. The event was held in line with this year's theme on cardiovascular disease and stroke, underscoring the role of physiotherapy and physical activity in prevention, recovery, and rehabilitation, as well as in improving patients' functional ability, independence, and quality of life.

The programme included scientific lectures on the role of physical activity in cardiovascular health, stroke prevention and management, and neurological and cardiac rehabilitation. It also featured a panel discussion on integration among healthcare team members, early rehabilitation intervention, safe physical activity, continuity of care, and patient involvement in the recovery process.

The programme reviewed the Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy Department's key achievements and initiatives during the year and honoured participants, supporting entities, and contributors to the event's success. It also provided an opportunity for specialists from various healthcare sectors to exchange expertise.
