Ghitha Announces Strategic Investment in Amalfi Foods to Boost Bahrain’s Bakery Industry

Manama: On the sidelines of Gateway Gulf 2025 held in the Kingdom, Bahrain Food Holding Company (“Ghitha”), a portfolio company of Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company (“Mumtalakat”), announced an agreement on a strategic minority investment in Amalfi Foods, a Bahrain-based fast-growing manufacturer specialising in premium ready-to-eat baked goods.

According to Bahrain News Agency, this investment marks Ghitha’s entry into the bakery segment and reinforces its commitment to growth, diversification, and strengthening Bahrain’s agri-food ecosystem. As part of its partnership with Ghitha, Amalfi Foods will double its production capacity by establishing a new facility with highly automated production lines, which is expected to create up to 100 new jobs and enable the launch of more than 20 new products, all manufactured in Bahrain and distributed across the region.

This initiative will also support Bahrain’s development as a regional hub for premium baked products, foster innovation in food production, and strengthen food supply chains by encouraging local production.

Basim Al Saie, Chairman of Ghitha, said the partnership with Amalfi Foods demonstrates Ghitha’s commitment to investing in high-potential sectors that drive economic growth and diversify its food-related portfolio. He noted that expanding into the bakery industry will allow the company to deliver world-class products to consumers locally and regionally while supporting the development of Bahrain’s food sector.

Wassim Sami Farhoud, Founder and CEO of Amalfi Foods, said Ghitha’s investment enables the company to accelerate its growth, enhance innovation, and showcase Bahrain’s capabilities on the global stage.

Bahrain Food Holding Company “Ghitha” was launched by Mumtalakat in 2024 to advance the Kingdom’s agri-food sector by accelerating growth, innovation, and strategic partnerships. Ghitha currently comprises key subsidiaries, including Bahrain Flour Mills, General Poultry Company, Delmon Poultry Company, and Bahrain Agriculture Development Company (Gheras).

Founded in 2020, Amalfi Foods has rapidly emerged as a dynamic force in the region’s bakery industry. With exports to over ten countries across the GCC and MENA, the company is recognised for its innovation, quality, and consistency. Its product portfolio includes ready-to-eat pancakes, waffles and croissants, all produced using state-of-the-art European machinery in adherence to world-class standards.

The collaboration aligns with Ghitha’s strategic vision to diversify its portfolio and contribute meaningfully to the national food sector.
