Germany Recalls Sand Filled Children’s Toys Suspected of Containing Asbestos

Berlin: German authorities announced the withdrawal of an additional set of products from the market in Germany due to possible traces of asbestos in toys filled with sand.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the Consumer Warning website stated that the measure covers certain varieties of stretchable rubber dolls marketed under the trade name "Pufferz", which have been widely sold in numerous shops across the country, due to the possibility that the hazardous substance may be present in the filling.

The relevant authorities stressed that consumers should stop using these toys immediately and return them to the point of sale, warning that if the product becomes damaged or torn, the filling could leak out and be inhaled, posing a health risk.

The authorities recommended that customers must immediately keep the figures out of children's reach and not to use them further, adding that the goods were distributed through branches of the toy store chain and may have been sold in numerous federal states.
