Manama: The General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information (GEOSA) of Saudi Arabia and the Singapore Land Authority (SLA) unveiled the outcomes of their collaborative project aimed at developing and managing a geospatial system.
According to Bahrain News Agency, this partnership is a significant part of GEOSA's broader initiative to establish a national geospatial infrastructure. The effort aligns with global best practices and is intended to enhance the sustainable impact of geospatial data across various sectors.
The collaboration between GEOSA and SLA serves as a model for effective international cooperation. It aims to integrate geospatial information into public, private, academic, and non-profit sectors, thereby advancing national development priorities.
During the project, both parties worked to strengthen ties between the Arab Committee of Experts, chaired by Saudi Arabia, and the UN Asian Committee of Experts on Geospatial Information Management, represented by Singapore. This collaboration included sharing insights on geospatial governance and infrastructure from the Arab Committee, while the Asian Committee offered expertise in disaster management and land administration.
A significant highlight of the event was the publication documenting the achievements of the 2023-2025 cooperation period. This document is structured around five key pillars: geospatial standards, geospatial platforms, geospatial data, geospatial intelligence, and geospatial excellence.
In recognition of its contributions, GEOSA received the Excellence in Geospatial Development Award from the Singapore Cooperation Enterprise (SCE), the government agency responsible for supporting Singapore's international partnerships and development initiatives.
