GCC technical committees’ meetings conclude

Yasser bin Ibrahim Humaidan, Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs, has affirmed the kingdom’s keenness to keep abreast of the latest developments in the field of renewable energy, based on its commitment to its role in the international community system, and in order to activate international agreements related to achieving sustainable development, noting the importance of unifying efforts and goals to develop standard specifications in the field of energy.

The minister made the statements while addressing the closing session of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Technical Committee for Renewable Energy Specifications and Storage Technologies.

He commended the dedicated efforts exerted by the two GCC technical committees for of electrical and electronic specifications, and renewable energy and storage technologies specifications, during their meetings hosted by the Ministry of Electricity and Water Affairs on July 10-13.

Humaidan asserted that the expansion of the use of renewable energy contributes to achieving sustainable development goals and falls within the framework of the Kingdom’s commitment to achieving zero neutrality and reducing carbon emissions, indicating that work is on the right track to achieve the desired goals of Bahrain’s National Renewable Energy Action Plan (NREAP) and National Energy Efficiency Action Plan (NEEAP).

It is to be noted that the kingdom hosted, over the past four days, the 30th meeting of GCC Technical Committee for Electric and Electronic Specifications, and the ninth meeting of the GCC Technical Committee for Renewable Energy Specifications and Storage Technologies, in the presence of experts and specialists for GCC states.
