Riyadh: Under the patronage and presence of Bandar bin Ibrahim Al Khorayef, Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), participated in the 21st General Conference of the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO).
According to Bahrain News Agency, the conference was hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and organised by the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources. It took place on the sidelines of the 53rd session of the Industrial Development Board (IDB) and was attended by representatives from various member states and leaders from the industrial sector worldwide.
Albudaiwi highlighted the significance of Saudi Arabia's hosting of the 21st UNIDO General Conference, noting it as a testament to its leadership in advancing innovation and multilateral cooperation in industrial development. He acknowledged the country's role in developing joint solutions to challenges related to sustainable industrialisation, innovation, and technological transformation.
The Secretary General praised the conference sessions for their focus on exploring solutions and opportunities, as well as for empowering women and innovative youth in the industrial sector.
Albudaiwi further noted that the conference provided an opportunity to strengthen partnerships among governments, the private sector, and civil society. He expressed gratitude towards Saudi Arabia for hosting the event and its commitment to supporting industrial development programs in developing countries.
