GCC Secretary General Meets Chinese Envoy on Middle East Affairs

Riyadh: Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, met with Zhai Jun, Special Envoy of the Chinese Government on the Middle East Issue, at the General Secretariat's headquarters.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the GCC Secretary General expressed gratitude towards China's stance in condemning Iranian attacks on GCC states. He praised China's efforts to encourage all parties involved to halt the war and stop Iranian military aggressions against the Council states, highlighting that these steps enhance security and stability while preserving the GCC states' sovereignty and territorial integrity. Albudaiwi emphasized that the GCC has consistently supported peace and the resolution of disputes through dialogue, rather than being a party to any armed conflict.

The Chinese Special Envoy praised the policies of the GCC states at various levels, which have fostered a reliable partnership with China. He noted the GCC's restraint during the crisis, reflecting their prudent policies. He also lauded the outcomes of the Emergency GCC Ministerial Meeting, which reiterated that dialogue and negotiations are the only viable solutions to the crisis.

Both parties stressed the importance of intensified coordination and joint consultation in addressing current regional developments and challenges to enhance security and stability in the region and globally. The meeting also covered bilateral relations between the GCC and China, discussing ways to strengthen ties to serve mutual interests, including updates on the upcoming China-GCC Summit and the Free Trade Agreement between the two sides.
