GCC Secretary General Meets Argentine Foreign Minister to Enhance Bilateral Relations

Riyadh: Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), received Gerardo Werthein, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade, and Worship of the Argentine Republic. The meeting focused on reviewing the relations between the GCC and Argentina and exploring ways to develop them to serve common goals and interests.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the discussions included exchanging views on signing a memorandum of understanding for a consultation mechanism and reviewing a work plan between the two sides in various sectors. The meeting also highlighted the relations between the GCC states and the Mercosur group, currently chaired by Argentina, discussing possible avenues for resuming negotiations on a free trade agreement between the two parties.

Both parties exchanged views on the latest developments in the international and regional arenas, particularly the situations in the Gaza Strip and Syria. They emphasized the necessity of supporting all efforts aimed at achieving stability and security in the region.
